GET REGULAR MAMMOGRAMS: Detect Breast Cancer Early
One in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. Most women can survive breast cancer when it is found and treated early. Mammograms can detect a cancerous lump before it is large enough to feel.
The US Preventive Services Task Force recommends women ages 50-74 get a mammogram every two years; women ages 40-49 should discuss screening options with their doctor. Women in a high-risk category may begin at an earlier age or get screened more often.
Your Health Plan covers recommended mammograms at 100% when performed by an in-network provider. To find a provider, search for an imaging facility on your Health Plan’s website or ask your doctor’s office for a referral.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, an excellent time to schedule a mammogram and remind the women in your life to get a mammogram on their calendars, too.
